Sweet Styles

  • The Rundown on Markdown Originally created in 2004 by John Gruber and Aaron Swartz, Markdown is a markup language designed to be lightweight and simple to read/write. It’s completely text-based and uses cleverly placed symbols to format words in bold, italics, underlined, etc.
  • Text markup, and extends markdown in several ways to allow for quick linking to other artifacts in your project. Markdown was created to be easy to read, easy to write, and still readable in plain text format.

Discord is one of the most popular messaging and collaboration applications available. Popular among gamers and teenagers, Discord provides a snappy and well-designed interface that works well for communicating with friends. Similar to Slack, Discord provides limited Markdown support which is comparable to other applications in this category. Discord uses the ” Discord Markdown Text” format system to create Discord Bold Text, discord italics letters, and when you need to cross out one of your words or sentences. Checkdown is a plain text editor to HTML (markup language) conversion tool written in Perl that uses a plain discord formatting syntax highlighting.

Don't want to use markdown? You can slap a backslash in front of your statement, and it'll escape the markdown formatting. You'll see those asterisks as you'd like! Just keep in mind, it doesn't work in messages with edits or underscores.
