The first entry in the SD Gundam World series, SD Gundam World Sangoku Soketsuden is a multi-media project made to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Gundam.
Just when the world was close to reviving itself after a devastating war, a deadly epidemic known as the 'Etiolation Trinity' begins to emerge. Said epidemic drives Mobile Civilians mad and turns them into mindless berserkers, forcing survivors to hide themselves in fortified cities, dividing the world into three countries; Shu Area, Wei Area, and Wu Area. Three warriors Liu Bei Unicorn Gundam, Guan Yu Nu Gundam and Zhang Fei God Gundam meet each other and decide to work together to save the world.
Like BB Senshi Sangokuden, Sangoku Soketsuden derives on Romance of the Three Kingdoms for its setting and characters, however the two works have nothing to do with each other.

The net anime started airing on July 26, 2019, and ended on March 25, 2021. It was directed by Takahiro Ikezoe (Sword Gai: The Animation, Show by Rock!!), and each episode originally had a schedule of releasing on 'the 4th Friday of every month', before it got delayed for a year presumably to avoid any connection with theCOVID-19 Pandemic outbreaking at the time. It returned on March 18, 2021, with the last two episodes airing the week after.
There's also two comic series, both released in April 2019 and available on the official website. One is titled 'SD Gundam World Sangoku Soketsuden: Soshoki' (Drawn by Luk Mo Shek and launched on April 10. Also serialized in Explorer Publishing's monthly Hong Kong magazine Lucky, and releases new chapters on 'every 10th of the month' both on the website and as a Motion Comic.), while the other is 'SD Gundam World Sangoku Soketsuden: Enkotan' (Drawn by Naoto Tsushima, and launched on April 19. Releases new chapters 'monthly every 3rd Friday'.). Soshoki focuses on Cao Cao Wing Gundam, while Enkotan focuses on Sun Jian Gundam Astray, and Takuya Yamanaka is in charge of the story for both comics.

Followed up by SD Gundam World Heroes.
Tropes associated with SD Gundam World Sangoku Soketsuden are:
- 2D Visuals, 3D Effects: Inverted. The anime mostly consists of cel-shaded CGI characters, but hand-drawn extras appear occasionally who use a different shading style that make them stand out from the rest.
- Adaptational Villainy: While Lyu Bu Sinanju is quite villainous in the main anime, he's a flat-out psychopath in Soshoki. This is shown best with his murder of Diao Chan Kyshatriya; while he shows no remorse in either version, the anime has him rather gently remove her Trinity Memory, while in Soshoki, he rips it out and then kicks her remains away.
- Advertised Extra: Both Ma Chao Gundam Barbatos and Zhao Yun 00 Gundam are shown alongside Liu Bei Unicorn Gundam, Zhang Fei God Gundam, and Guan Yu Nu Gundam multiple times in both the Opening and Ending Animations, even though they don’t join the group in their travels. This is especially notable for Zhao Yun, as his death (Quote unquote) means he’s absent for the entire show from the first episode all the way up until the end.
- A Day in the Limelight: Episode 3 of the anime focuses on Cao Cao Wing Gundam with Liu Bei only appearing at the end.
- Alas, Poor Villain: Yuan Shao Red Warrior in Soshoki. After trying to assassinate Cao Cao, he was grossly mutated by the Etiolation Trinity and caused the first outbreak in the Wei Area. After being forced to Mercy Kill him, Cao Cao commented it must've been hard for him and swearing he will find the person responsible.
- Alternate History: This tale is based off of a classic Medieval-Chinese War-Story that in turn was based off of one of the most well-known eras in Chinese history, yet some areas in the setting are more akin to modern-day cities with futurism elements.
- Alternate Universe: Romance of the Three Kingdoms already got adapted for the SD Gundam franchise with Sangokuden. However, both Sangokuden and Sangoku Soketsuden are completely separate from each other. This can be easily told by the characters, who portrayed by different mechs than in Sangokuden (For example, Liu Bei is played by the original Gundam in Sangokuden, whereas in Sangoku Soketsuden, he's played by the Unicorn Gundam).
- Curb-Stomp Battle: Happens in the second chapter of Soshoki. Cao Cao Wing Gundam and his group were given one by Lu Bu Sinanju and Zhang Liao Sazabi under orders from Yuan Shao. This battle ends with Cao Cao's first defeat and the loss of Xiahou Dun's eye.
- Darker and Edgier: While Sangokuden was dark for an SD Gundam work, Soketsuden blows it out of the water, and not just because of the Zombie Apocalypse setting.
- Fleeting Demographic Rule: The last SD Gundam Anime based off of Romance of the Three Kingdoms, SD Gundam Sangokuden Brave Battle Warriors ended back in 2011, eight years prior to Sangoku Soketsuden’s release.
- Foreshadowing: In episode 2, Zhuge Liang's planetarium not only displays the star signs of three of The Four Gods, but other planets as well. This is a major hint at the other worlds playing a big role in the next series, SD Gundam World Heroes.
- Hate Sink:
- We cannot hate the BUGs as they are just mindless zombies, so Dong Zhuo Providence Gundam serves as as a source of hatred instead. Portrayed as a Jerkass with no concern for his citizens, even withdrawing soldiers from areas affected by the Etiolation Trinity, it's no wonder that Sima Yi considered him a good scapegoat to hide his tracks, assuming his hypnosis wasn't the reason for Dong Zhuo's behavior to begin with.
- The Leo from episode 12 of Soshoki who complains about his rations. He acts very rude as he refuses to accept Xun Yu Strike Noir's justification that everyone gets the same amount by calling the children also receiving rations 'brats', and starts a riot in which he shoots Xun Yu dead. Viewers will take pleasure with the implication that this Leo was among the citizens turned into BUGs when Xun Yu's death triggered Cao Cao Wing Gundam's Face–Heel Turn.
- Imagine Spot: During episode 2 of the anime, Zhang Fei tries to guess what Zhuge Liang is like, showing various scenes of him as a Mad Scientist.
- In Medias Res: The Soshoki manga is told this way. It opens up with Cao Cao Wing's attack on Yuan Shao Red Warrior before flashing back to Cao Cao's past for the next four chapters.
- Late-Arrival Spoiler: The initial teaser for Heroes, released before episode 8 of Soketsuden, shows Zhao Yun alive and well.
- Merchandise-Driven: Like many other Gundam series, selling model kits is where most of the revenue comes from. Characters using the Trinity Memories of others to access their powers is essentially a way for the show to encourage people to buy multiple kits to recreate the combinations from the anime.
- Mood Whiplash: A staple of Enkotan. It's common to have it be lighthearted and comedic one page, then someone gets attacked or assassinated on the next.
- Mythology Gag:
- From the little of Cao Cao's father that's seen in Soshoki, his design appears to be based on the Wing Gundam, the predecessor to the Wing Zero that Cao Cao's design is based on.
- Our heroes get the token Secret Test of Character when they have to retrieve something from a gashapon machine for Zhuge Liang Freedom Gundam, and end up with a string of junk draws when they get three Doms - which Zhuge Liang immediately accepts. While the gashapon is a nod to one of SD Gundam’s origins as gashapon toys, the Freedom Gundam is from the Cosmic Era continuity, which also boasts its own Black Tri-Stars team complete with three Doms, and they're all allied with Freedom pilot Kira Yamato on the side of Lacus Clyne.
- Da Qiao Gundam Artemie and Xiao Qiao GN Archer share a kit that includes parts to build one or the other. This is likely a reference to how the GN Archer is the rebuilt Gundam Artemie.
- In episode 4 of the anime, there is a flashback to when Zhuge Liang was given his feather fan-shaped Device by his teacher, Zhang Jue. The weapons on the table alongside the Device are Sonken Zephryanthes's Gaouken Zeroichi, Sou Sou Gundam's Enkoujin, and Koumei Re-GZ's Bakuousen.
- During the epilogue, Cao Cao Wing Gundam is shown standing in a desert completely hooded. There’s actually a twofer reference here; For SD Gundam, this is similar to how Devil Dragon Blade Zero Gundam starts his story, as he’s introduced walking in a desert as a hooded figure. Since Cao Cao is based off of the Wing Gundam Zero here, however, it’s also a reference to New Mobile Report Gundam Wing: Frozen Teardrop, where Heero Yuy also wanders a desert while piloting his hooded mech Wing Gundam Snow White, though at least he’s joined with Duo Maxwell’s son piloting the Warlock (Which is also hooded).
- Offer Void In Nebraska: Strangely, the series is extremely limited in its home country of Japan despite the popularity of SD Gundam there. The anime episodes and Soshoki cannot be viewed in Japan and there is no Japanese version of Enkotan. The models kits are also only available from Gundam Base Tokyo. Japanese fans have gotten around this by watching the Traditional Chinese version of Soshoki on Youku, but are still disappointed in the lack of availability in their country.
- Adverted in late 2020, when it was announced that the series would be fully released in Japan as well.
- Recycled In Space: BB Senshi Sangokuden is already Romance of the Three Kingdomswith SD Gundams and other MS, but Sangoku Soketsuden adds Zombie Apocalypse on top of that and takes place in a futuristic setting.
- Robot Hair: By lieu of everyone being based off of Giant Mecha, a number of characters possesses this. Some characters like Guan Yu Nu Gundam and Huang Zhong Gundam Dynames even have Robot Beards.
- Sequel Hook: Sima Yi Destiny Gundam escapes with his whereabouts unknown, and a suspicious meteor is seen falling from the sky as Cao Cao Wing Gundam leaves the Three Kingdoms.
- Shout-Out: Zhao Yun 00 Gundam uses Dual Wielding swords instead of the long spear that Zhao Yu is usually known for carrying, which is not just the reuse of the 00 Gundam's actual weapons, but a nod to the China-made series God of War, Zhao Yun, which added a pair of MacGuffin swords to the Three Kingdoms mythology and had Zhao Yun as the main star.
- The Virus: The 'Etiolation Trinity'note , which causes the victims to lose themselves and start attacking people.
- We Hardly Knew Ye: In the Enkotan manga, Liu Bei Unicorn's mother. She's introduced in the first chapter only to sacrifice herself at the end to save her son from a Etiolation Trinity BUG horde aerial ambush. Then in the next chapter, she solidifies her fate by cutting the ropes on the bridge to allow Sun Jian and her son to escape.
- Wham Episode: Chapter 12 of Soshoki. Sima Yi reveals that the Bugs were an alternative solution for the Trinity crisis, as they would not use up the rare resource and proposes turning the populace into Bugs to slow the consumption, as humans are driven by their appetite. Cao Cao is against this until he finds out that Xun Yu was killed during a civilian riot while the company was delivering supplies to them. Remembering what Sima Yi said, Cao Cao decides to go with his plan.
- 'Where Are They Now?' Epilogue: After stopping Cao Cao Wing Gundam’s conquest and foiling Sima Yi Destiny Gundam’s plans, Blue Wing Corporation donate to Zhuge Lian Freedom Gundam’s laboratory, leading him to successfully creating a cure for Etiolation Trinity, which Sun Jian Gundam Astray and the rest of Red Tiger distribute throughout the land. Cao Cao steps down as CEO of Blue Wing Corporation, and goes on a journey of self-reflection. Zhang Fei God Gundam and Guan Yu Nu Gundam, now Yan Huang Zhang Fei God Gundam and Wu Sheng Guan Yu Yun Chang Nu Gundam, return to Luoyang and work to improve the townsfolk’s lives. Long Xian Liu Bei Unicorn Gundam and the rest of Dragon’s Watch return to their hometown and, while no one is sure where Sima Yi went, Liu Bei is now certain he will protects those most important to him and feels a little more confident as the leader of Dragon’s Watch. Of course, we already know that this isn’t the end of their story…

BB Senshi Sangokuden is a toyline created by Bandai, commemorating the 20th anniversary of SD Gundam, and going from 2007 to 2011.
A continuation of the long-running BB Senshi line of SD Gundam models, this series also draws upon Romance of the Three Kingdoms for its characters, whose designs are all based on classic Gundam models from the Universal Century to the semi-recent Gundam Wing and G Gundam. So far, the story has been divided into three chapters: Fuuun Gouketsu Hen, Eiyuu Gekitotsu Hen and Senjin Kettou Hen. Expanding on this is the sidestory Sangokuden Gaiden: Buyou Gekitou Roku, and an Animated Adaptation, SD Gundam Sangokuden Brave Battle Warriors, which aired after Sgt. Frog, and can be found on YouTube. The anime also had its own sidestory manga titled Brave Battle Warriors Genesis, which had four story arcs that focused on Ryuubi, Ryofu, Sou Sou, and Sonsaku.

Note: This article uses the Japanese version of Romance of the Three Kingdoms, and as such 'Cao Cao' = 'Sousou', 'Liu Bei' = 'Ryuubi', 'Sun Quan' = 'Sonken', as the English dub uses those names(Ironically, the subtitles use the original names).
Not to be confused with Dynasty Warriors: Gundam, which stars Gundams in Dynasty Warriors gameplay. Also has nothing to do with SD Gundam World Sangoku Soketsuden, other than Sangoku Soketsuden being a Spiritual Successor of sorts to Sangokuden.

BB Senshi Sangokuden provides examples of the following tropes:
- 2D Visuals, 3D Effects: Brave Battle Warriors mixes cel shaded CGI characters (usually leading ones) with normally animated ones, leading instantly to speculation that anyone not in CGI is not getting a model kit made. Kanpei Gundam turns from cel to CGI in his debut episode.
Sd Gundam Sangokuden Wiki
- Alas, Poor Villain: Enjutsu Zssa's final moments get dragged out quite a bit. Then his body gets reused as powerup armor.
- Amplified Animal Aptitude: The horses of the Nanban Kibatai are bred and trained to traverse the implausible terrain of the untamed Southern regions.
- Anachronism Stew: Ignoring the whole robot angle for a second, you've got characters armed with swords, spears, polearms mostly, and bows and throwing blades for ranged combat, alongside machine guns, BFGs, mobile artillery... there's also Sekitoba turning into a motorcycle, Kannei's jetski, the list goes on.
- Animated Adaptation:
- In the form of The Movie, double-billed with the fifth Sgt. Frog movie.
- And an animated series following The Movie (in 15-minute episodes) is now on air.
- The Berserker: Bachou Blue Destiny, Shukuyuu Gundam.
- Batou Blue Destiny in Genesis.
- Bifurcated Weapon and Swiss Army Weapon: Just about all of the characters (or at least their kits) have one or both.
- Blade on a Stick: Nearly everybody. (This isThree Kingdoms.)
- Bling of War:
- Nearly every set has gold parts (two notable exceptions, Shiba-I and Shuuyu, are the tacticians). A few deluxe sets up the ante with vaccuum metallised gold.
- Shuuyu IS Bling of War, considering that his actor is the Hyaku-Shiki.
- Bloodless Carnage: There is no blood in Brave Battle Warriors, even when wounds are visible. Granted, everybody's a mech...
- Adverted in the manga series.
- Brick Joke: Reactions over one of Ryubi Gundam's twin katanas being 'forgotten' for the anime were mixed, but the anime's final arc even goes on to omit one of the twin Phoenix swords that Sousou Gundam gets.
- Butt-Monkey: Chouhi is pretty much theButt-Monkey around these parts. Though in Brave Battle Warriors, Sonken Dendrobium is openly mocked by pretty much everybody, since he has yet to level up.
- Calling Your Attacks: cranked Up to Eleven in the anime.
- Camp Gay: The Chou Trio, who speak with overly effeminate overtones and in Brave Battle Warriors, have body language to match.
- Combining Mecha: from the (heavily reimagined) Yellow Turban brothers to Shuu Neue Ziel with the Black Gyokuji and three sons of Shiba-I.
- Cool Horse: Practically everyone, at least implied so.
- Ryofu Tallgeese has the Sekitoba, which turns into a bike.
- Chou-un Gundam has the Hieisen.
- Shouretsutei Ryuubi Gundam has the Tekiro.
- Everyone else gets the generic Hakugin Ryuuseiba, identical to Hieisen.
- There's also the Nanban Kibatai, Moukaku Gundam's mounted cavalry.
- The anime introduces Sousou's Zetsuei, a sharp, jet black affair.
- Cool Shades: Kan-U Gundam, Sonken Gundam, Sosaku Physalis and Sonken Zephyrantes actually have these incorporated into their design. The Shuuyu Hyakushiki model includes an alternate sticker for the eyes intended to invoke this.
- Deal with the Devil: Heavily invoked when Shiba-En Zaku II tries to summon Shuu Neue-Ziel.
- Death by Origin Story: Played straight in both the manga and anime. Roshoku GM Cannon and Touken GM, we hardly knew ye.
- Dragons Up the Yin Yang: Seiryu and the Shou kingdom consistently sticks dragons on everything.
- Dramatic Irony: The Battle of the War Gods Comic World and manga utilizes this heavily with Souhi and Shiba-i. While Souhi sees Shiba-i a trusted advisor, anyone who's read Clash of the Heroes knows he's actually trying to fulfil the Armageddon chapter of the G Records.
- Expansion Pack Past: Pretty much the point of the Spin-OffSangokuden Gaiden.
- Expy:
- Moukaku Gundam, based on the mecha, behaves like its pilot.
- Sousou Gundam is more similar looking to Justice Gundam then his counterpart
- For that matter, Kan-U has several elements from both Gundam ZZand the Musha ZZ Gundam.
- The Four Gods: As symbols and motifs for the different factions instead of actual characters.
- Seiryuu, in blue, represents the kingdom of Shou and Ryuubi Gundam.
- Suzaku, in red, represents the kingdom of Giga and Sousou Gundam.
- Byakko, in yellow rather than white, represents the kingdom of Gou and Sonken Gundam.
- Genbu, in purple rather than black, represents Toutaku Zaku's unnamed forces (though their flag carries the kanji for his name. And the soldiers are all in green for some reason.)
- Five-Man Band: Ryubi's Five Shou Generals:
- Kan-U Gundam (The Big Guy)
- Chouhi Gundam (The Lancer)
- Chou-un Gundam (The Chick)
- Bachou Blue Destiny (Sixth Ranger)
- Kochu Gundam (The Smart Guy)
- Incidentally, both five-man bands function as The Lancer to Ryubi and The Dragon to Sousou as a whole.
- Four Is Death: The Nanban Four Kings, based on the Walter, Grand, Heavens Sword and Master Gundams from G Gundam.
- The Four Perils in the Legend arc. They were born from the pieces of darkness and are the key to resurrecting Shuu as Shuu Destroy.
- Gratuitous English: the anime trades the Fuun Gekitotsu etc. subtitle for 'Brave Battle Warriors.'
- Heel–Face Turn: Several. Most of them even keep the motif of whichever faction they defected from (see The Four Gods above). With the notable exception of Kyou-I F91, who goes through an Expository Design Change.
- Historical Beauty Update: This may be the only Three Kingdoms adaptation that DOESN'T depict Zhang Fei and Meng Huo as The Big Guy Boisterous Bruisers. And Dong Zhuo is above average in size but NOT fat.
- Historical In-Joke: The descendants of Sima Yi may have won in the end, but here they've only seized control of a dark version of the Imperial Seal, and it's not been doing them any favors..
- Homage: The characters (and some MacGuffins) draw their design not only from classic Gundams, but Koei's treatment of the Three Kingdoms characters in all their Dynasty Warriors games. Lu Bu's pheasant feathers? Ryofu Tallgeese has 'em. Ma Chao's wild hair? Bachou Blue Destiny has ARTICULATED hair. Sun Ce's giant tonfa? Wait till you see what Sonsaku Physalis' shoulder boosters double up as.
- Hour of Power: The Five Shou Generals experience this with the Ryuukihou.
- IKEA Weaponry / Swiss Army Weapon: Seveal. The box for Kakouen Daras even proclaims '6 different weapons in 1'.
- Legacy Character: Several, particularly in Sangokuden Gaiden. Ryuhou and Choubou even carry weapons identical to those of Ryubi and Chouhi respectively.
- Like That Show, But with Mecha: Romance of the Three Kingdoms with classic Gundam models.
- MacGuffin:
- The Tengyokugai, Tenkaisyo and Ryuukihou double as IKEA Weaponry. The Black Gyokuji may be based on Psycho Gundam but acts as a MacGuffin instead of a character.
- And there's the Gyokuji, the Imperial Seal that ignited the whole war in the first place.
- Mega Neko:
- Sonken Gundam's Goutaitei upgrade involves the Kourinpaku, a massive tiger-shaped coat of arms.
- Apparently the gate of Korou Fortress is shaped like one.
- Merchandise-Driven: Reaches an egregious level when the new Kiba Breaker toyline, featuring our heroes on motorised mounts that are basically Weaponised Cars with horse heads, make it into the anime.
- Mid-Season Upgrade:
- Invoked at different points with Ryuubi Gundam, Sousou Gundam, Koumei Re-GZ, Sonken Gundam, Ryofu Tallgeese and Shiba-I Sazabi.
- The anime does something similar after Tengyokugai is awakened and a brief Time Skip is invoked - our heroes use the time to upgrade into Ryousou (Dragon-Armor) Ryubi, Ogasou (Demon Tusk-Armor) Kan-U, Raisou (Thunder-Armor) Chouhi, Gurensou (Red-Mantle) Sousou and Mokousou (Tiger-Armor) Sonken. All this is placed chronologically before the ones stated above.
- Military Mashup Machine: Lampshaded with Moukaku Gundam's elephant cavalry (the use of elephants in war is Older Than Feudalism) that transform into tanks (their more contemporary equivalent).
- Mooks: The Butaihei, modelled after the RX-79 GM (for Shou, Gou, Giga), Zaku-1 (Toutaku Zaku and maybe Giga), and Leo (Ryofu Tallgeese's personal army). Moukaku Gundam has the Nanban Kibatai.
- Mythology Gag: For starters...
- Shouretsutei Ryuubi resembles the Hakuryu Taitei Gundam, acknowleging the nobility of his bloodline
- Chou-un, the youngest of the Five Shou Generals, being based on the V2 Gundam
- Bachou's Red Eyes, Take Warning mirrors the effect of the Blue Destiny EXAM system
- Moukaku, bearing the title Ashurao, not only resembles the Gundam Ashurao but mimics the Ass Kicking Pose normally adopted by Shining or G-Gundam in their boxart
- Shukuyuu is known to fly into a Berserker Rage just like Allenby
- Sonsaku Physalis is possessed by Shuu Neue Ziel late in the storyline - both are based on Anavel Gato's mecha
- At one point, Sonsaku and Shuuyu debate about battlefield tactics, specifically asking Shuuyu to develop a strategy that doesn't risk the lives of half of Sonsaku's men. Shuuyu's response is that Sonsaku keeps asking for the imposssible. Sonsaku's response is directly lifted from Mu La Flaga's Catchphrase.Sonsaku: You're saying my strategist can't make the impossible possible, then?
- Omake: This seems to qualify.
- Only One Female Mold: All the female models are the exact same build, regardless of age, while males come under regular, Toutaku, and Ryofu Tallgeese.
- Palette Swap:
- Glaringly obvious with the three factions' footsoldiers, all based on the RX-79 GM and only differentiated by color.
- Among the named characters, there's Gien Gundam, identical to Kochu Gundam but based on the 'Titans' recolor into which their archetype, the RX-178, was also recolored.
- Shiba-I Sazabi goes through one for his promotion to Giga Taifu, particularly notable as he gets recolored INTO the Sazabi's normal colors (white to red).
- This happens more often with the merchandise of course - not just straight recolors, but the Kanpei Gundam and Shuusou Doven Wolf sets include recolored Ryuubi parts.
- Plug 'n' Play Technology: several cases thanks to the model kits' interchangeability. The Ankoku Gyokuji in particular is capable of combining with different characters to become Expies of One-Winged Angel-class mecha from different Gundam continuities.
- Power Gives You Wings: Several. Notably Kyou-I Gundam upon assuming his full F-91 form.
- Power Trio:
- Ryubi = Superego, Kan-U = Ego, Chouhi = Id.
- Going by the factions themselves we have Shou = Ego, Gou = Superego and Giga = Id.
- Punny Name: the Nanban Kibatai. 'Kiba' can mean both 'fang' or 'horseback riding', but this mounted cavalry carries standards with the kanji for 'fang'.
- Put on a Bus: Ryofu Tallgeese in the first chapter. Ryuubi Gundam and Sousou Gundam at the end of the second chapter.
- Real Is Brown: Take a look at the recolored Koumei Re-GZ and Shuuyu Hyakushiki for the tie-in with the live-action movie Red Cliff.
- Sailor Earth: the number of unused Three Kingdoms or even Dynasty Warriors characters, coupled with the immense amount of leftover Gundam mecha provide prime fodder. Xiao Qiao Methuss◊, Cao Zhi◊Airmaster◊, Cao Ren Leopard...◊
- Scarf of Asskicking: Sonken Zephyrantes and his Chousa Four Riders have been retconned with these in the anime. Bright red. Can't miss 'em.
- Shoulders of Doom: Several.
- Particularly the Ryukihou whether it's on Shuuretsutei Ryubi or the Five Shou Generals. The Brave battle Warriors version of Shuuretsutei Ryubi has the added option of swapping his regular shoulderpieces (Kan-U and Chouhi's) with all the ones the other Five Generals would use.
- Shuu Neue Ziel is almost all giant shoulders.
- Shout-Out:
- Sonshoukou Gerbera — based on the GP04, carries the weapons of the Rising Gundam, and wearing Chun Li's outfit.
- The anime gives special emphasis to any scene with Shuuyu and Koumei together.
- The Smurfette Principle:
- Out of the three named female characters, Chousen Qubeley, Sonshoukou Gerbera and Shukuyuu Gundam, one has already been Stuffed in the Fridge early on. It's the first one.
- For that matter, Red Cliff introduced the immensely popular character XiaoQiao, who notably has no Expy in Sangokuden, yet there's no plans to add her to the lineup.
- Spared by the Adaptation: A select few, most notably Chousen Qubeley(although she doesn't make it out of the entire series).
- The Strategist: Koumei Re-GZ, Shiba-I Sazabi, Shuuyu Hyakushiki.
- Take Up My Sword: Most notably Sonken Zephyrantes (Sun Jian) to his second son Sonken Gundam (Sun Quan).
- Theme Music Powerup: Episode 50 full stop.
- Took a Level in Badass: Kyou-I, from smalltime Giga field tactician based on a Zaku-II to heavily-armed Shou general based on the F91 Gundam F91.
- Turtle Power: Ryofu Tallgeese, the only model kit under the turtle emblem of Toutaku Zaku's forces, and still the biggest badass. He'll be joined in the toyline by his superior Toutaku Zaku, who's covered in guns for no reason other thanto be covered in guns.
- The Worf Effect: Kouten The.O, the Yellow Scarf Rebellion's most powerful weapon, goes down almost immediately to make way for Toutaku Zaku's forces.
- You Have Failed Me: See Put on a Bus above. Guess what Sousou Gundam does upon his return.
